Bahnsparer in brief
Bahnsparer helps rail travellers save time and money. The app brings affordable travel days and fares together with a comparison of journey time, past punctuality and transfer risks. That makes it easier to choose a suitable connection before booking.
Flexible travellers compare up to 31 travel days in the list; those with a fixed date can watch the fare. For the selected journey, Bahnsparer checks matching ticket shops abroad, split tickets and seat reservations. The documented seat-reservation comparison found a typical price advantage of around 44 percent.
The app marks the cheapest and fastest options and the best balance of price, journey time and reliability. Live times, platforms and connection information help during the journey. Bahnsparer is free, ad-free and works without a Bahnsparer account.
The story behind Bahnsparer
It started with stories from people around Max Ritter: missed connections, long waits at stations and fares that suddenly cost more. Booking showed the price and scheduled arrival, but it was often unclear how reliable a connection was or whether another departure would be a better choice.
That became Bahnsparer, a spare-time project. Max Ritter wanted to bring together the information missing from that decision: price, journey time and the chance of making connections. He develops the app on his own alongside his work as an IT freelancer.
Feedback from travellers now shows what already helps and what is still missing. Specific routes and screenshots help reproduce problems and improve comparisons. The app continues to develop through the experiences of the people using it.
